Fall training time is spent conditioning the body and teaching drills that develop proper sprint mechanics. During this time, we also try to introduce exercises that help develop and improve the athlete’s technique, stride length and stride frequency.
Circuit training plays a big role during this phase. We do this not only to increase the athlete’s fitness level, but also to help develop the proper sprint mechanics. This technique is vital towards the end of the race.
Our emphasis is to develop speed, as well as conditioning the body and mind to hold that speed. We try to stress that we are preparing for the championship season and that we are working toward weekly progress.
The emphasis here is to rest the athlete in hopes that he/she will have their best performance. We make concentrating on form and technique the priority.
